A little history about Puerto Rican's Afro-Borinquen heritage. Note that the Grandfather of Black History, Arturo Schomberg, was Puerto Rican who started the trend to use the term "Afro" when describing people of African descent. Arturo Schomberg called himself an "Afroborinqueño" which means "Afro-Puerto Rican" in the 1890's. Malcolm X, who studied Schomberg's information, is attributed to first use the term Afro-American in the 1960's which later became "African-American" when popularized by Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. as he began saying the term in the 1980s.
